GYMEA COMMUNITY PRESCHOOL

Play. Learn. Grow.

WELCOME!

Gymea Community Preschool is a community-based not-for-profit centre in the Sutherland Shire. Our team of highly trained, passionate and caring staff provide a quality preschool education program, welcoming  children from 3-5 years old of all backgrounds and abilities.

We believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved, and when engaged, intrigued and inspired by their environment. Our staff ensure that they establish a strong relationship with each child, understanding their unique interests and learning needs. Together, staff and children explore their environment, question and research information, while being challenged and supported to think and learn with their peers.

We enjoy exceptional facilities including three air-conditioned rooms built in 2007, and a huge, beautifully equipped outdoor learning space, where we spend a great deal of the day.

In our most recent National Quality Assessment and Rating Process, we are proud to have achieved a rating of 'Exceeding National Quality Standards' thanks to the dedication of our wonderful team of educators.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our preschool's aim is to provide a home-like atmosphere that caters for each child's physical, creative, emotional, intellectual, social and language development through play.

We structure our programs to entice children to participate in a secure, happy and relaxed atmosphere, providing opportunities for them to develop ideas and skills, question bias and utilise critical thinking skills, while developing their self-confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline.

We recognise and celebrate diversity, both in our local, national and international communities, providing opportunities for children to learn about and respect diversity of culture, religion, gender, race, ability and family structure.

What Parents Think

“Gymea Community Preschool has my heart, and my childrens'. The teachers and staff are so dedicated, a wonderful team providing our children with fun learning in a beautiful safe space."

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

 We at Gymea Community Preschool.....

Learn to walk lightly on Country and take care of the possums and birds with their soft paws and tiny claws. We acknowledge the Dharawal speaking people as traditional custodians of this special place.

We pay our respects to Elders of the past and present for the continued care that has been taken of our sacred place as we play and understand their special connection to Mother Earth, also acknowledging the young people of today whilst supporting them on their journey as they embrace their connection to culture and Country.

Our place is peaceful, creating a strong sense of belonging as we reflect under our special tree travelling on our learning journey.

We acknowledge the continued care they have taken of this Country because they hold the traditions and memories for future generations to carry forward the Dreaming.

We acknowledge that this land was, is and always will be Aboriginal land for us to respectfully share and care for.
